YakGroups, what is it?

YakGroups is a tool for college students to better manage group projects. YakGroups will centralize all communication about the group project in one location and provide you with tools needed to better organize, coordinate, and track the progress of your group project.

To briefly describe each one:

• Group ToDo List - each member of the group can add to, edit, and rearrange the Group ToDos List. With ToDos, you can:       

• assign ToDos to group members         

• add ToDos to the calendar to give them a due date         

• create discussions for your ToDos

• attach files to your ToDos

• Group Calendar - at a glance, all group members will be able to see when items are due and when meetings are scheduled. Using the calendar, you can: 

• drag ToDos onto the calendar to assign a due date      

• drag Group Meetings onto the calendar to assign a meeting date 

• drag items around to reschedule them

• Threaded Discussions - Group members can keep all their group-related discussions centralized within their YakGroup's site. On each discussion, you can:

• drag ToDos onto a discussion to associate it with specific ToDos

• keep all replies grouped together under the original post

• File Sharing - Group members can upload their files to their YakGroups site so that they can easily be shared with the rest of the group. With files, group members can:

• drag ToDos onto the file to associate the file with specific ToDos

• attach files to a Threaded Discussion to more easily share them with the group

• Contact Information Gathering - YakGroups will help groups gather necessary contact information like name, email, and phone number. YakGroups will:

• email each person and invite them to join you on your YakGroups site

• add each person as a new group member within your group project

YakGroups will be the tool that we have always wished we'd had during our group projects. College Group Projects are hard, we're going to make them just a little easier for you.
